Goalkeeper James Hamon confirms his departure from Exeter City

‘Thanks for making this club my second home’

Exeter City goalkeeper James Hamon is the second player to confirm he is leaving St James Park this summer.

The 23-year-old from Guernsey joined the club in 2013 after a successful trial and went on to make 37 appearances in all competitions, providing back-up to regular number one Christy Pym.

However, it was in the dressing room where Hamon brought most value as he was a hugely popular and jovial character, helping new players settle and being something of a practical joker.

Hamon revealed the news on his Twitter account and it comes just a day after defender Luke Croll confirmed that he too was leaving St James Park.

He posted: “Unfortunately my time at OfficialECFC has come to an end. I’d like to thank all the staff, players and the fans for making this club my second home!

“Together we’ve made some great memories and I’d like to wish you the very best for the future!

Hamon, who could hav turned professional at golf, such is his ability, made only nine appearances for the club this season, five in the league and FA Cup and four in the Checkatrade Trophy.

With Pym also believed to be out of contract this summer and potentially heading elsewhere, it could leave Matt Taylor needing two new goalkeepers before the season starts in August.
