Georgia’s Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy were seen leaving the strip club minutes before the fatal crash.
Tory Bowles, a member of the recruiting staff, and his teammate Warren McClendon were also present.
A new report on the fatal car crash that killed Georgia Bulldogs football player Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy shows footage taken outside a strip club early on Jan. 15 that provides context for the tragic incident.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained video footage that shows multiple Georgia players and Bulldogs staffers leaving Toppers International Showbar around 2:30 a.m., 15 minutes before the fatal car crash.
The crash also involved Willock’s teammate Warren McClendon and recruiting staff member Tory Bowles, who were seen leaving with them 30 minutes after the club closed.
Around 2:40 a.m., the players and staff members were seen crossing an intersection on video.
At 2:45 a.m., police responded to a crash site approximately 2.5 miles from Toppers. LeCroy was driving the black 2021 Ford Expedition, which hit a curb on the passenger’s side while exceeding the speed limit and collided with two power poles and a parked car.
Willock was pronounced dead at the scene, and LeCroy died of her injuries at Piedmont Regional Hospital. McClendon and Bowles were also taken to the hospital.
A toxicology report on LeCroy is currently in the works.
Attorney Roy T. Willey IV, who represents Willock’s family, spoke with reporters outside the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse this week and issued a statement on their behalf.
“As there are no words to describe the grief that we are experiencing as a result of Devin’s death, the support of all those who have said kind words and shared loving memories of him has helped us during this difficult time,” the statement began.
“We’d like everyone to understand that Devin was more than just a football player. He was a reliable friend, a loving and caring brother, a hardworking student, and a wonderful son. Devin’s infectious personality and loving smile will be remembered by everyone who has met or seen him. He was a young man who wasn’t only motivated by football. He was motivated by his love for others and a desire to achieve his goals.”
