Yankees 2023 Injury Tracker: Tommy Kahnle placed on the IL, ending his season.
Latest updates and timelines

Tommy Kahnle, a right-handed reliever, has been placed on the 15-day IL, retroactive to September 22, due to right shoulder irritation.

While the move is retroactive, it will finish Kahnle’s season with only seven games remaining.

Right-handed reliever Matt Bowman was promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill Kahnle’s spot on the roster.

LHP Wandy Peralta has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left triceps strain, and the Yankees have called up RHP Yoendrys Gomez from Double-A Somerset to take his position on the roster.

While Peralta’s IL stint dates back to September 19, he does not have enough time to return this season, barring a miraculous run to the playoffs, as the regular season finishes on October 1.

Peralta had another successful season in 2023, posting a 2.83 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He struck out 51 batters in 54 innings across 63 games.

The Yankees confirmed that outfielder Jasson Domínguez underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a UCL injury.

The club described the treatment as Tommy John reconstruction surgery with the addition of internal bracing. Dr. Keith Meister performed the surgery in Arlington, Texas.

According to the Yanks, the projected healing time is 9-10 months.

According to SNY MLB insider Andy Martino, “Meister is known as an expert on the internal bracing procedure” and conducted the operation on Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story, who returned to activity after only seven months.

Everson Pereira, an outfielder, hasn’t played since September 14 against the Red Sox, and now we know why.

On his weekly appearance on the Talkin’ Yanks podcast, manager Aaron Boone revealed that the 22-year-old is suffering with a hamstring strain and that an IL stint is possible.

“He’s got a little hamstring,” Boone explained. “Very low-grade, so we’re in the position of deciding whether to give it a few more days or to backdate and do a quick IL stint. Because we believe he will play again this season, but I’m not sure if it will be two days, tomorrow, or five days from now.”

Since being called up, Pereira has been cutting. In 21 games, he batted 143/.241/.186 and had seven RBI.
