Ohio State five-star commit Tavien St. Clair has already avenged questionable Elite 11 shortfall

The biggest benefit for the Ohio State Buckeyes this recruiting cycle is that we’re able to land a five-star quarterback in the state of Ohio and he is very well the best in the country.

Tavien St. Clair is the most important recruit for Ohio State in the class of 2025. It is not every day you can land a future pro at the most important position from your own state. It didn’t take any crazy recruiting tactic, they were a match early on and he has been committed for just over a year.

Now, all that St. Clair can prove is that he is the No. 1 quarterback in the country and potentially even the best player in the country. After being questionably snubbed from winning the Elite 11, St. Clair has now gone on to be named the Quarterback MVP at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge.

“St. Clair showed once again why he’s one of the nation’s elite players. He got plenty of zip on his passes but is able to layer his throws with ease. The future Buckeye is also able to make accurate throws from a variety of arm angles. He already looks the part at 6-foot-4, 228 pounds. The discussion about St. Clair now is all about if he is the best player in the country.” – Greg Smith, Rivals

St. Clair is currently the No. 3 quarterback and No. 14 player in the country, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. USC commit Julian Lewis and LSU commit Bryce Underwood are the two prospects that he trails for the No. 1 ranking.

Despite winning the first two of the three Elite 11 days, St. Clair was named to second place behind Alabama commit Keelon Russell. St. Clair was able to win multiple events, including the best accuracy on display. None of that matters in the big picture and St. Clair went on to take his official visit just a day later in Columbus. The Benicia of him being in nearby Bellefontaine, Ohio has allowed St. Clair to be on campus often, almost as if he was enrolled at times.

St. Clair will soon turn his attention to his senior season of football and will continue to work as a recruiter for the Buckeyes. Winning the Rivals event was a nice gesture after questionably falling short in the Elite 11.
