Bengals Make Decision on Head Coach Zac Taylor

After a remarkable season with the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Zac Taylor is being honoured for getting the team closer than ever to its first Super Bowl victory.

The Bengals announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement to extend Zac Taylor’s contract. Taylor’s new deal runs until the 2026 season.

While many supporters questioned Taylor’s decisions after the Bengals’ Super Bowl LVI defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, he led the team closer to victory than any coach since the late great Sam Wyche in 1988. This is a well-deserved extension.

Taylor led the Bengals to a 6-25-1 record in his first two seasons. However, in 2021, they finished 10-7, winning the AFC North for the first time in over five years. They then won their first playoff game in decades before embarking on a remarkable AFC title run.

We have signed head coach Zac Taylor to a contract extension until the 2026 season.

Zac Taylor, a former standout quarterback at Nebraska, transitioned into teaching after a brief professional playing career. He received his first NFL position with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, but swiftly rose up the coaching ranks under

Taylor was hired as the Los Angeles Rams’ assistant receivers coach by Sean McVay in 2017. The next year, he was elevated to quarterbacks coach and oversaw quarterback Jared Goff’s excellent season. The Bengals hired him for his contributions to Goff’s development as a Super Bowl quarterback.

Taylor still has some work to do before he joins the upper class of coaches, specifically Super Bowl winners. But he’s turned the Bengals around much faster than anyone thought.

Would you have handed Zac Taylor that large extension?
