Dave Roberts Reveals Why Mookie Betts Will Be Dodgers’ Everyday Second Baseman

The two-time champion will be LA’s new second baseman

The 2023 winter meetings are in full effect as of Monday. The winter meetings allow teams to discuss league business and conduct offseason trade and transactions. It’s the biggest and most looked-forward-to event of the offseason.

By the end of it, the Dodgers could add some major reinforcements to compete for title No. 8. The biggest names in the league are there, including Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. Roberts spoke to the media on the first day and revealed some shocking news to some, saying that All-Star Mookie Betts will be their new everyday second baseman.

It’s a shocking revelation for LA, but it’s not like he’s not capable of it. Roberts explained why he feels the change in position for Mookie is the right decision.

The decision for the Dodgers to move Mookie to the dirt opens up an array of possibilities. It’s no secret the Boys in Blue are in search of a starting ace in the trade market. It seems inevitable at this point, and if they happen to land on one, their young infield prospects will likely be dealt, i.e., Michale Busch and Miguel Vargas.

It’s not like Mookie will never see right field again, but we will see the former MVP in the dirt a majority of the time, next to his former MVP teammate, Freddie Freeman.
