Tigers Injury Updates: Jackson Jobe’s Rehab Begin, Kerry Carpenter Progress
Detroit fans received encouraging injury updates on two critical aspects of their short and long-term future.

Detroit Tigers fans were struck with an eerie stillness following No. 1 prospect Jackson Jobe’s potential injury on May 1, when he was pulled after three virtually faultless innings (he gave up one walk) due to soreness in his left leg. He was officially placed on the 7-day injured list the next day with a hamstring strain, but eagle-eyed supporters were expecting the worse.

It was fortunate that it wasn’t a problem with his arm, but seven days was an optimistic estimate for when he’d be able to resume. Jobe was out for more than a month before being sent on a rehab assignment to High-A West Michigan on June 18.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Jackson Jobe warms up during spring training at Tigertown in Lakeland, Fla. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.
Jobe’s first outing went well, pitching two innings and allowing two hits and two earned runs before taking the loss, but the second seemed like a quick return to form. He pitched three perfect innings, striking out four batters, and his fastball reached 99 mph.

Following his injury, the Tigers stated that they still intended to get him to 100 innings in Double-A this season. Despite the month and some changes in absence, Jobe appears to be able to return to the SeaWolves quickly and take up where he left off at 16 2/3 innings.
