Georgia Football 2024 Transfer Portal Tracker: Players Leaving the Bulldogs
Six Georgia Bulldogs used the NCAA transfer site when it opened on Monday (December 4). On the first day of the Football Bowl Subdivision transfer period, almost 500 athletes joined the portal.
Georgia will have substantial roster turnover in the coming months before the start of the 2024 college football season. The Bulldogs have the top incoming recruiting class.
Georgia athletes are largely using the transfer portal to gain more playing time, however others are hoping for better name, image, and likeness deals. The Bulldogs are also chasing top players through the transfer site.
Many Georgia players on the transfer site are back-to-back national champions. Most of them faced stiff competition for playing time and will play a bigger role at another institution.
So, who Georgia Bulldogs have used the transfer portal so far? It should be noted that these players have the option of returning to Georgia, but the majority do not.
Brock Vandagriff, Georgia Bulldogs’ No. 2 quarterback, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Vandagriff, a redshirt sophomore, appeared in eight Georgia games this season. In 2023, the former five-star prospect completed 12 of 18 throws, for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
Vandagriff’s exit could indicate that Carson Beck will return for another season.
Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Jackson Meeks has joined the transfer portal. Meeks is Georgia’s special teams ace. However, Meeks struggled to gain substantial playing time and targets in Georgia’s strong wide receiver corps. This season, Meeks had one grab for 23 yards and will have one more season of eligibility at his new home.
Jefferson entered the portal after signing with Georgia football as a member of the class of 2021. The 6’3″, 295-pound defensive end appeared in seven games during the 2023 college football season.
Jefferson made one tackle against Kentucky this season but did not see a lot of action on a regular basis. The redshirt sophomore is certainly aiming for more playing time in his new environment.
