Howard Stern Accepts Jerry Seinfeld’s Apology Over Podcast Comments: “I Don’t Care”
Seinfeld previously apologised for claiming Stern was “outflanked” by other comedian podcasts.
Howard Stern stated this week that he swiftly accepted Jerry Seinfeld’s apology for stating Stern had been “outflanked” by other comedians.

“I read it, and I went to my wife, ‘Oh, that’s weird,’ because Jerry is a personal friend of ours,” Stern said on Monday’s The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM.

Seinfeld made waves last week when he said on the Fly on the Wall podcast that Stern, the self-proclaimed “king of all media,” had been “outflanked” by other comedy podcasts. He also claimed that hosts Dana Carvey and David Spade “are better than him now.” The Unfrosted filmmaker later apologised for the comments, stating, “I feel really bad about what I said.”

On Monday, Stern stated that he first became aware of the statements after reading a headline in which Seinfeld claimed Stern was an interviewer rather than a comedian.

“Long story short, I read it and thought, ‘Oh, shit.’ But I wasn’t going to — I didn’t even care; I was just like, ‘Oh,'” he explained.

He went on to say that when Stern’s wife, Beth Stern, texted Jessica Seinfeld, Jerry’s wife, “Jerry called me immediately and said, ‘Oh, fuck, I fucked up, and I want to apologise.'” He says, ‘You know when you’re on the air and everything just comes out wrong?'” Stern continued. “I responded, ‘Jerry, you don’t have to. This is embarrassing. I am the king of going on air and having a million regrets afterwards. Apology acknowledged. “I don’t care.”

Stern stated that Seinfeld “apologised for a really long time, and he said it really came out wrong.” He also offered to apologise on the Stern Show, but Stern declined.

“I don’t want to get into it; it’s awkward. It’s fine,” he replied. “It wasn’t really that big of a deal.”

Stern also stated that the incident was not particularly painful to begin with. “You know, if I’m neither a comedian or an interviewer, I’m not sure what I am. I’ve always considered myself a bit of a comedian, but don’t worry about it.
