Kansas City Chiefs cancel practice due to backup defensive lineman BJ Thompson’s medical emergency.

According to CBS Sports, the Kansas City Chiefs postponed their Thursday morning practice due to a medical issue.

CBS Sports claimed that defensive tackle BJ Thompson Chad a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting. Thompson was taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to KCTV, a CBS News affiliate.

Thompson, 25, is now in stable condition, his representative informs CBS News.

A squad member, who was not identified, told KCTV that the incident left players shaken, prompting the decision to cancel practice.

The team’s final practice of the week will be rescheduled for Friday, according to KCTV. The team is set to hold a training mini-camp next week before taking a training break till July.

Thompson attended Baylor University and Stephen F. Austin State University before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round in 2023, according to his profile on the Chiefs’ website. He appeared in only one game during his first season, against the Los Angeles Chargers.
